Valley Golf

Located in East Grand Forks, Minnesota,Valley Golf Course, was established in 1971. Valley began as a nine-hole course close to the Red River. Financed mostly through the sale of stock to interested community members, the original nine-holes presented golfers with many challenges as each hole produced tree-lined fairways and small, elevated, push-up greens. Valley Golf Course expanded to eighteen holes in 1987. While the new nine- holes boasted larger greens, they endorsed the course’s original character. Trees lined the new narrow fairways and even the region’s best golfers found themselves with difficult shots through sections of well established trees.

The flood of 1997 devastated the towns of East Grand Forks and Grand Forks. In an effort to protect the city from future major flooding, East Grand Forks city leaders along with the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers agreed that Valley Golf Course must relocate due to dike alignment and construction. Today, Valley Golf Course consists of River Oaks, the original nine, and the new nine, Waters Edge. The Waters Edge section, designed by Martin Krueger, opened the spring of 2006.

Valley Golf takes pride in offering golfers with two diverse and unique sections. The original nine-holes tucked away close to the river continues challenging golfers with tree-lined fairways and small greens. The newest section, Waters Edge offers an open layout with rolling hills, twenty-four sand traps, and five ponds that hold 60 million gallons of water. Along with the new nine holes, Valley Golf established a driving range, which opened in the spring of 2007. The clubhouse, moved to a more central location, offers a full service pro shop and snack bar, as well as a full service bar and banquet room to accommodate gatherings for all occasions.
